    Default Nankeen Kestrel

Had a bit of fun with some Kestrals last week. This was one of my favourites
Shot with Canon 1D Mk111, 500 F4 - ISO 500 1/1600 F6.3 Manual mode. Tried a bit of noise reduction but still mastering it

Very nice flight pose and HA Rob! The light is a bit harsh, but it is what it is! The noise on the bird isn't too bad, probably due to a big crop? The birds head looks real sharp but the rest seems to be a bit softer to my eye. Nice flight shot none the less.

This is a good one Rob, I like the flight angle, feather detail, colour and comp. Ditto Dan of the tad soft.
Rob you should also try and sort out the halo in front of the birds top wing and below his head in PP.

I like the pose and eye contact and would put the bird further to the left in the frame to give him room to fly into. Did you use S/H? There seems to be a slight halo around the dark parts. Another vote for more sharpening. Did you run NR on the bird? If possible I avoid this and only run NR on the BG if necessary.
