took this shot the other morning,it was early and the sky was perfectly blue,as you can see in the reflection in the river.the sun was a bit brighter than I liked but, makes the heron look like a spot light is on it.comments good or bad welcome.thanks.cannon50d,400mm prime lens,1/2500.f5.6,iso500,hand held, slight crop.

Lovely bird, nice and sharp , I may have added more room at bottom for reflections

Christopher, I like the way you can see the ripples behind the bird, might be interesting to include a little more space behind for more ripples and below for the reflection. I like the dark top edge of the frame as it draws my attention inward, to the bird. I think this could use just a little more sharpening.

    Good Shooting!

Good looking specimen - very neat plumage with not a hair out of place :-) I like how the river's current has created a trail behind the legs. A bit more room at bottom would have been nice, but also a lower angle if it was possible. The whites on the cheek could be toned down a bit as they are pushing hot.

Nicely done for hh. A lower angle would have been nice if possible without adding a lot to bg. A bit more space on bottom and right. I like the ha and colours. Well done. Dave

thanks for your comments,I could not get a lower angle,I was on a sloping river bank, withhigh orchids,I could give more ripples at the back of the bird, but it puts the bird in the middle, and I have no more room on the left.thanks all.
