Great timing to capture this moment. I think a pano crop is in order here. The wing position and detail are fantastic.

Pano it is. Wish for a catchlight in the eye. Congrats. JR

Beautiful action captured here, even if light conditions were not optimal. I agree with a pano crop.

    Hi,

I just wanted to note that this is in fact a Caspian Tern, not a Common Tern. There are differences in size, of course not useful in an image of a single bird. However, the thick black legs and large red bill make this a Caspian Tern. The only other possability would be Royal Tern. However, Royal Tern would have a much more orange bill and extensive dark area on underside of the primaries as opposed to the upperside as this bird shows.

Yes, this image is loudly calling out for a pano crop (by losing half of the bottom space)!! I wish the eye was at least partly visible, and the image needs CW rotation. Great action that you perfectly timed :-)

Thanks for looking and commenting everyone. I was more worried about the sharpness; the Tern seemed a bit off to me, but I liked the action and wing position. I also like the idea of a pano.
Thanks Dave about the Caspian Tern correction. Dave
