I just wanted to note that this is in fact a Caspian Tern, not a Common Tern. There are differences in size, of course not useful in an image of a single bird. However,the thick black legs and large red bill make this a Caspian Tern. The only other possability would be Royal Tern.However, Royal Tern would have a much more orange bill and extensive dark area on underside of the primaries as opposed to the upperside as this bird shows.
Yes, this image is loudly calling out for a pano crop (by losing half of the bottom space)!! I wish the eye was at least partly visible, and the image needs CW rotation. Great action that you perfectly timed :-)
Thanks for looking and commenting everyone. I was more worried about the sharpness; the Tern seemed a bit off to me, but I liked the action and wing position. I also like the idea of a pano.
