Welcome to BPN, Mark! Very nice first post. I like the head angle, angle and BG. You could try to lighten the eye a bit and tone down the highlights on the head some more and crop a bit off the top. The dark plumage has a slight magenta cast on my monitor. Keep them coming!

Another welcome. I also like the background and pose of the bird. Good comments by Axel. In a perfect world seeing more of the feet would be nice. Thanks for sharing.

Would have been nice to get the feet, but you take what you get. I like the smooth & colourful BG, and the bird's pose.

    Welcome to BPN!
Really nice bird. Love the perch and the BG.
Just an idea of what can be done with this image.

Thanks guys for your comments. I have learnt much from your feedback. Yes the crop looks better to the eye. How did Juan Carlos lighten the image slightly? Would you not say some detail has been lost?

Yes, some details is lost. I used the shadow/highlight tool on PS. Again, a lovely bird and image.
