    Default Semi-Palmated Plover

This was my first chance at getting up close to these guys. Very nervous at first, but then he was really curious of what the sound of the shutter was. He was eating little bugs and crustaceans off of the washed up sea weed. Very cute little guy. Hope this is up to everyones standard. All C/C appreciated.

    I love these guys!

Nice light, low angle, and exposure. I'm not a big fan of the BG though. Did you lighten the eye? Its looks a little too light IMO.

    Well Done

Very nice detail and sharpness here, I like the colors too. The BG is OK with me.
The seaweeds in front are bit too messy, but after all this is the habitat.
Maybe you can minimize them by vertical crop or so.
I love the inquisitive pose on the bird. Nice capture.

Lovely one Brian, the HA, the light and details are good. I too would suggest a vertical crop as suggested by llija.

    Brian,

I like the intimacy of this image and super low angle. Not sure if a vertical crop would make the seaweed foreground cleaner, but there'd certainly be less of it. You could try it though. If you keep it horizontal, I wish for a bit more room to the right for his tail. Good job on the EXP.

Ix-nay on the VERT crop idea for me. I like the SH and EXP and your angle to the bird. A bit wider so as to give the virtual feet a bit more room would have been ideal.

This is a worn adult. Not to worry, the fresh juveniles will be in your area in less then ten days. They will be much tamer. Yeah a little wider for me too. Really like the environment inclusion, I think the BG works well here also.

For those of you whom asked for a vert. I had to add canvas top and bottom because the original was just about full frame. Thanks.

Here I added more room for virtual feet by adding canvas underneath, hope it's acceptable and not too repetitive looking. I also gave him a little more room behind.

Artie, sorry about the hyphen and I already own Shorebirds; Beautiful Beachcombers.;) Great book by the way.

    Thanks for all help

Nice try on each but no cigar. Too many repetitive patterns make the clone job obvious.... It takes lots of time and skill to do it right. Best to do it right in the field--I keep learning that one over and over....

I know what you mean Artie, I do have a lot more images of him composed with more room at the bottom but I knew a lot of people weren't going to like the messy look of the sea weed.. The next one will be better (I promise;)) Thanks for taking the time and being completely honest.

LOL. That is good advice. Know it is coming from Artie, and should be, but heck it is, so worth re-inforcing, :).

Either way Brian, a very enjoyable and pleasing image. They don't need to be perfect to please or sell well, and more often than not, circumstances are never ideal, so very well done.
