    Default Dwarf Mongoose

We were on our morning coffee break when not to far from where we stopped I saw
a cute Mongoose peeking out of his hole.
I had to wait a bit for him to resurface, but once he got out I managed to fire off a few shots.

Now that's a brightly colored little nose! Nice eye contact. I like the light strands in the BG, gives me a sense of habitat. I also like the mound to his left, helps balance it out for me. I know he's on a hill but I'd give it a tiny bit of CW rotation. I keep tilting my head to make my eyes level with his.

    Danny,
I like the composition. The hole in the ground and the mound gives a good idea about its habitat. I am not sure about the rotation, as it was a hill. Also, I have seen animals tilting their heads. So rotation on the basis of their head position won't give the right idea about horizon tilt in my opinion. Overall, I like this image. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

    Hey Danny,
Not sold on the rotation...as you may lose too much of the FG grasses whch act as a nice framing elemnt. BG does look a bit noisy for the Marklll which surprises me....but IAC i would smooth it out a bit and possibly blur it a touch.....if you are not into such things.....a crop of the two OOF blobs at the top of frame will also work....but then the comp may be to tight for some....but not for my tastes......so just a few more options for you to possibly explore.
I have never seen one of these in the wild.... so that alone was definitely a treat!

Wonderful image of this guy Danny. The only suggestion I can make is to tone down the background some and maybe blur it a bit more to remove the distraction of the highlighted grasses. I like the foreground plants that help frame the image so I would leave them there. Its nice when patience pays off like this.

Very nice comp and I like the BG. Great eye contact and the coordinated red nose and eyes are pretty special.
