    Default Alex and Bird Intelligence

I think this is beyond intelligence. For just a quick look into it, read the section on Accomplishments. There is lots of info on the web about Alex.

I am currently reading the book by Professor Irene Pepperberg called Alex and me. It's such a heart warming read. I was teary when I read about his passing and his last words to her. Be sure to check youtube for Einstein, another Gray! What a fellow!

    Thanks for the link.

I saw Einstein on TV once, may have been Jay Leno's Tonight Show. I met Dr. Pepperberg at a seminar one time, very interesting and must say dedicated person. We have two Timneh African Grey Parrots and four Congo Greys. They range in age from 13 to somewhere over 30. The Timnehs and 2 of the Congos are retired breeders and they other two are very cherished kids. I would estimate that the two kids have vocabularies well over 100 words and can and do say sentences in the proper context.

Parrots are very smart. :) We were thinking of obtaining a male Eclectus Parrot, that are in the top of Cape York, Australia and are often kept as pets. Just tossing up though at the moment, not sure yet. We already have a menagerie and a parrot is probably the LAST thing we need. :D
