This was taken in a small nature reserve, close to my home. This lark has a distinctive call, and as he calls, every sixth call, he flaps his wings and raises one leg. You can be sure if you are driving slowly, and you hear his call, he will be sitting in a nearby bush. What I like about these guys, they tend to perch at the top of bushes, so one always get a fairly good view of them. Taken at the end of last year.

I have just noticed that I have some artifacts in the BG. Oh well - should have picked it up.

The calling pose and Aggressive Mood of this image is it's USP for me .. Beautiful details .. May be, I would have cropped a little from bottom and added some sky to the top if this was mine

Hey Stuart, Interesting calling pose and nice angle. Did he just land?...or takeoff....because of slight wing blur.....don't mind it.....just wondering. Love the mohawk and the eye looks fine to me.

Great capture and very interesting read. He seems to be a cooperative bird since you can predict when he'll flap the wings. Neat BG and perch, Thanks for sharing, Stuart :)

Did well bro - I like the pose, wish to see the feet though, but that is probably typical a perch for these guys. I think you captured the action nicely. Good light too! TFS! :)
