I like the design a lot. I also like the light on the hornbill. If you are fine with cloning, you can remove the leaf-less branch and the one tiny clump of leaves on upper right side.
Hi Subharghya,
Have to agree with above....the light angle was a bit off as is the HA. I do like the way you tried to use the branches as a framing element. If you post the specs like SS and f-stop, ISO......the mods will be able to offer some additional recommendations.
I guess I'm the only one not seeing the picture. I like the design I see in the thumbnail although it looks a bit dark. Sorry I can't critique anymore from the thumbnail :(
Hi Everyone .. Thank you so much for your views and critiques .. I feel first I should explain why I like this image - For me this is not an image of a backlit bird on a nice perch but it's about the mood that it is evoking in my mind .. to my eyes the bird is lost in thought and oblivious about what's happening around it .. if it looks back to me then it will loose this "Bird-in-it's-own-world" feel and will show more alertness .. and I do have a frame as much I can remember where it turned it's head more to the camera but I didn't like it .. one more reason is that the catch light will be lost if it turns more towards me and the eye will not be so lively .. So this image appealed more to me than a better head turn one .. I feel everyone will perceive it in their own special way and this is my individual taste !
Hi Fabs .. Sorry for your inconvenience but I don't know why the image didn't show up in your browser .. Anyways .. you can try this direct link to the image - http://www.junglemoments.com/BPN/grey_hornbill_01.jpg
cloned out a few branches and increased midtone brightness. I myself dont do so much cloning on my photos...but I took the liberty to do it on this image. Hope you are ok with that.
Even without the cloning, just increasing the midtone brightness will improve it IMO. I think even some more brightening will help but since you want to preserve the mood, I went only this far.
