    but no sun on this cloudy, overcast morning.

    Canon 30D; Sigma 150mm macro lens; tripod-mounted. (I shut down the flash because even with a softbox and negative FEC, I kept overexposing the petal tops that were turned toward the camera.) Background is that shaded creek once again.

    1.3 sec @ f/22; ISO 200; -2 EV; Cloudy WB; natural light

    Nice positioning of the flower, Like how the focus is on the middle of the flower, looks like Velcro. Having the black BG makes the yellow pop. Great job :)

    Ed, I like the colors the way they pop against the black BG is very dramatic. I might take a small slice off the top and give another round of sharpening.

    Hey Ed,
    Unique perspective and as always...the dark BG really makes it pop. Along with the top crop denise mentioned.....did you look at a LH crop....right in the middle of the t in copyright.....emphasizes the diagonal comp more and really focuses on the bud. Just another option. Very nice control of the DOF and light.
