Good advice coming from Peter, Rohan. (Tend to use AWB so can vary it later if needed for different effects, but will definitely not at sunrise/sunset time). Can understand using some minus Ec so to retain detail in the lighter areas, but I feel it is more important to recognize the light quality and the times of day that achieves it as well as matters of direction for shape and form.
Nice pose you got here. Light is a bit harsh and the image could go a little lighter. I would also inverse the curves adjustment to deal with the extra contrast present when lightened.
Rohan,
Your image is dark. When you are clicking you can check the histogram. You can select to display the histogram along with the image preview.
The light was very harsh. You can see from the eyes covered with shadows. I use AWB. Except in indoor lighting where there is a cocktail of different lights, AWB is ok for other situations. I use lightroom to do minor tweaking to colour temperature.
With harsh shadows even if you use a cloudy or shade WB, it wont help.
