Lovely little birds these are, especially their call! Nice light, perch, HA and EXP. I would sharpen this a bit more and give it a bit more room on top. Too bad part of the perch is obscuring the feet, I do love that eyebrow though, makes the bird look grumpy like it just got out of bed.

Nice detail in the blacks Simon - a simple but elegant shot.

Neat bird Simon. Looks like the exp is good, but I agree with a bit more sharpening.

Lovely one loved the pose, Ha, details and perch.. I feel the NR has taken away some details.. some sharpening should fix it.. congrats...

Simon, this is a gorgeous bird and you did a great job catching him. Head angle and body posture are super and like the perch. I agree with a little more sharpening but just of the head. Congrats

Nice pose, comp, and perch. Perhaps a step to your left would have avoided the brighter area of the bg.

I feel you have exposed both the blacks and the whites well enough, and agree on a bit of selective sharpening. I like the pose, with the slight head turn. I would maybe try and lighten the eye a tad.

    Hey Simon,
Jim covered my thoughts already but still a nicely handled shot!

Thank you all for your perceptive comments. Here's a version with a bit more sharpening and NR only on the background, and lightened the eye a tad. Next time I'll also be more careful about the placement of the perch outside the hide.
