It was a big thrill to be able to make a photograph of this beautifull Short-eared Owl because they are very rare in Holland.

Beautiful! I might try to crop out the green on the bottom for a different impact. Still great as is.

Love the head-on approach Alex - that stare is super. I'm with Jim on trying a crop that eliminates the green at the bottom. The vertical grasses provide a good environmental background that the grasses detract from slightly.

Very lovely. You had a great chance and capitalized on it quite nicely. For those who would like to see it w/o the green strip just scroll down

Another vote for evicting the green at bottom Anther effect will make the bird larger in frame for higher impact !!!! Love this image !!!!

Fantastic...makes you feel like you're about to cop two sets of talons to the head!! Agree on the green at the bottom - I think the image works better without it.

This is a wonderful image Alexander! Those EYES looking right through the camera... I love the background and the green might be a tiny bit distracting as others have said, but it's hard for me to KEEP from connecting with those eyes!

    Nicely done!

    Hi Alexander,

This is just stunning. The crisp head on view and wonderful bg make this photo something special. Very well done! I'm with the crop the green crowd.

Nice image! Really has a lot of impact with the diagonal wing position against the vertical grasses. I might crop this one to a pano for a different look.

    Spectacular image!
The focused green grass distracts just a little bit.

Wonderful picture, especially the eyes and the warm harmonic colors. I did not agree with the others, for me it looks better with the green strap on the bottom.

    All the best
