Shot this bird in July, during the nesting period. They nest among reed beds around small pond.
    Tv - 1/500Sec,Av - F5.0,Evaluative metering,-1/3, ISO 400.
Cropped around 20% for composition and cloned a single reed strand near the bottom, the usual levels/contrast and USM
Do let me know what you think about the composition and any suggestions to improve the PP.

    Cheers
    Mohan

I really liked the pose and composition here...maybe a little recovery on facial details would be nice as it looks like the black has lost a few details on my monitor...just my 2 cents(actually 2 paise)...lol...

I like the pose, exposure and sharpness. This guy has an interesting tuft of yellow, and I feel you have got those yellows on the borderline, maybe just over, but not distracting. I would maybe crop in from the right, and maybe take a tiny area off the bottom too.

I like the soft light, sharpness, angle and clean BG. I'm not sure I've seen this species before. If it were mine I would put the bird higher in the frame.

Mohan, Lots of varying suggestions here on the COMP but a very loverly bird, good EXP, and SH. I'm with Axel. You needed to have pointed the camera down to get more of the bullrushes. I'd have tried to put the bird at the top of the frame. As is, there is way too much dead space above the bird.... Do follow Rohan's advice about lightening the face.

I just love that yellow crest!

Agree about including more plant. In this instance, I would crop a bit from the left and above. Hope you don't mind the repost. Awesome colors, love the crest too! Thanks for sharing. :)
