On the subject of luck, I think this qualifies perfectly. During this particular morning, I was getting images of waders in flight in an open area. When I heard a blue jay call some 20 feet away in some trees, I wondered over to take a look. The jay suddenly jumped down upon a branch just in front of me and I took the shot without changing any settings- I didn't even bring the camera up to my eyes. I immediately pointed toward the general direction of the jay and pressed the shutter button. Lucky for me I did that because no sooner than that the bird was gone.

Yes, the head angle could have been better. But I am thrilled at the quality of the image considering the circumstances! ;) Also, that is not a halo around the bill. It appears on the original copy too.

Wow, Amy, you're quick on the draw. Impressively sharp for 1/100 sec handheld.
You made great use of the brief opportunity you had.

Saw a chance and jumped at it. Cool image given the situation.

Great shot. Luck does play a good hand once in a while. You got four aces and a king that time! ;) Don't worry about the HA, it's definately a keeper. ;) :D
