This is another from the rehab center in York Maine. I was helping the center out that day for an upcoming fund raiser. This Broadwinged was injured by a car and cannot be returned to the wild. It is very appproachable, hence it was photographed from the minimum feet away. I cropped it for several reasons. Ugly blobs of blue sky with bushes and to show off the eye. The finished version is 9x12. About 65 % of frame left here. What do you think?

    Hi Grady,

I like the title and the image. The pose, bg, and sharp details make this a lovely photo. I think the oof feathers and leg are a bit distracting, but that's a minor nit.

I do like this one.....especially the detail on the head. Good exposure and composition. I agree with Jim on the lower OOF area. Given the surroundings I'd say that you've again done well given the circumstances. Maybe if you go there in the future to help out, you can pick a better location to photograph.

Excellent close-up and beautiful detail. I agree with above comments about the OOF leg . Thanks for sharing Grady.

    Hi Grady,

I like seeing the details and various tones of the plumage. At a 65% crop, the only minor nit I have is that the background starts to get a bit noisy and speckled. If mine, I'd probably apply either noise reduction or modest gaussian blur to the background to smooth it out.
