    Default Atlantic Puffin

This Puffin was pretty close to the blind and in the BG is a large boulder.

I like the white BG Axel. Nice eye contact and feather detail.

Nice detail in both the black & white, I might darken the BG somewhat. A beautiful image Axel.

As close as I can get to the Pied Kingfishers in the Pilanesburg nature reserve, I will swop you any day to get this close to a Puffin. Simply amazing Axel. Good job on the exposure with the blacks and whites - infact all the colours. Sharp, and I like the lighter BG. Great image.

Liked it a lot. I am a big fan of tight head-and-shoulders portraits. The light seems to be harsh but you did a great job in preserving the details in white and black.

Wonderful portrait Axel. I love the eye. So vibrant and alive. The light appears a little strong, but it makes no difference to the overall image IMHO. I wonder (as Kiran mentions) about lack of catchlight? Thanks for sharing mate!

Thanks, Ákos! Because of the relatively flat shape of the eye it's hard to see a catchlight unless the sun is low. This is at least my experience.

Great work in bright light: tight, and right down sun angle. Any work on the BKGR? Nothing fishy looking; I only ask because it looks so good.

Thanks, Artie! I hope I will get lucky sometime when I go there and have thin clouds. The BG looked like this, I didn't even run NR on it.

As stated, BG rocks! I had trouble in the mid-day sun w/ shadows as well. Was this on Machias?

    Very well done, Axel!

    One more beauty.

Love the pattern on the face of this guy. I wish I could see an image like this with a blue BG someday!
