Great wing pose and wonderful colors. I like the way the pink works against the blue sky. Great that the bird turned it's head towards the camera.

Hey Alan, Flying away images of birds rarely work.....unless of course they look to be banking back toward the viewer and have a good head position! Powder blue sky is awesome!
Good Shooting!

Alan:
Where is the artfully presented perch in this image :) :)
Lovely capture, with outstanding exposure.
How old would estimate this individual to be? I am always trying to learn more about their various stages of development.
Thanks for sharing.

Cool pose, look-back and good details. It could go a bit darker for my taste.
Alan:
I stared at your lovely spoonbill some more, and do agree with Axel, it is a bit light for me as well. You pushed the histogram all the way to the right, and I think that you could pull in the black slider a bit to add a bit more snap and definition in the image. Just an option.
Cheers
Randy
I haven't seen one with colors like this before. Is it a female?
I'd like to drive from SE Florida along the Gulf coast down into Texas to catch the birding sites in Texas. Are most sites along the coast? Does something like the Florida Birding Guide exist for Texas? Like everyone, I think, I really love Spoonbills and Texas seems to have even more than Florida?
I like the orginal post--more natural than the repost.
Daniel, It's a 2nd year bird. Not sure on the sex. You can get a map of the "Great Texas Birding Trail" which lists all the best birding spots along the Texas coast.

Texas has a few birding guides to choose from, found on any online book store. Hope that helps.
My initial thought would be the first bird is a little light, but I don't know the species. Great to have the looking back pose otherwise it wouldn't work. The sky contrast superbly with the pinks of the spoonie. Good one Alan! :)
Great pose and exposure. Like Randy's post
