Nikon D300 - Nikkor 400mm f2.8 AFS II w/ Nikon TC 1.7 II - ISO 320, f4.8, 1/1250s, +1.67EC I caught the kite in the upper right of the frame and decided to crop out the less sharp wings and tail. Shot today at about 10 AM. Hope you like it.
Amazing calling pose, and great details throughout - I particularly like the talons. IMO cropping more at right to get rid of the open area between wing and edge of frame would nicely anchor the comp in ULC. Well done, and good call on the EC :-)
Great image Gene. Love the close view and those talons look awesome! I also wonder about cropping the space from behind. Your image, your call. :) Thanks for sharing.
I'm sure if I was a raptor I would be embarrassed to be restricted to hunting snails- a dirty job but someone's got to do it! I like the shot, it looks like the bird is making out that it's a Peregrine and has just brought down a bird at 200kph.
