Wishing for more light when this subject landed , but it was not to be. Kind of cloudy this AM and when the clouds broke it was too bright. Was set (exposure) for lighter colored birds when this Ibis landed. Got off 2 shots then went to change exposure and it was gone. You know the feeling as you have all been there.

    Joe:

I think you did well under the circumstances. Some noise did creep in from the underexposure.

The pose, HA and drips are fine. The colors in the water and bird harmonize well. The entire bird looks a bit soft however.

Because the reflection is distorted, I would usually crop up from the bottom, but the reflected drops are rather interesting, so I might leave it as is.

Your instinct to get off a couple of shots before trying to change settings was a good one.

In addition to Randy's excellent comments I would add that if it were mine I would eliminate the white circle jsut above the birds tail. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Joe, I really like this one. Although the reflection is not super strong, it is still bold enough to nicely balance your vertical comp. The falling water drops are a nice touch. From my monitor there is a colour cast on your image - quite blueish/green. I've adjusted it via Color Balance (I reduced cyan, green, and blue to taste), upped the contrast a tad and boosted the overall saturation by 8 points. I also eliminated the bright circle above the tail and the water drop near the front of the neck. Hope you like!

Very nice pose and reflection. Maybe some more contrast?

    Daniel:

Nice improvement in the image with your repost.

The increased contrast helped a bit with the softness, and the elimination of the color cast is more life like.

Joe: If working on the raw file can allow a little more sharpness, I would be tempted to then go on and remove some of the bubbles in the water to clean it up a bit, IMO making it an even stronger image.

    Cheers

Sweet job on the repost. I meant to take out the white spot and forgot. I never noticed the color cast until you did the correction. Thanks a bunch and thanks to all for your comments. They always help a great deal.
