I Need a New Tripod

Hi,

I need some suggestions on what tripod to get...for MarkIII & 100-400 IS & 1.4x extender... I prefer carbon because of the weight..& ballhead I shoot mostly birds

I would appreciate recommendations!

Hi Renate,

Artie have some Gitzo tripods but if you can't afford them, you may want to check Feisol tripods. They are solid!!

You can pick up Gitzo 1227 and 1228 CF tripods used for some pretty good prices now that the new 6X versions are out. Either one will handle the Mk III and 100-400. If you plan on acquiring long lenses then you would want to go to the Gitzo 1325 or 1348 CF on the used market.

Another vote for Feisol for a cost effective alternative. Service is second to non as well.

After using Gitzo's for years, i suggest you go for the Feisols. Cheaper , good service and rock solid. A good alternative is Benro.

I ordered Mongose 2.3 & plate from Artie . The tripod Gitzo 3530 from the store where I have credit for the one I returned!!
