I like the angle, sharpness, exposure control and inclusion of the vegetation in the BG. The bill looks a bit oversharpened on my monitor.

Wonderful shot Grace. I like the shadow as I feel it gives a little "base" to the image.

Good standard portrait of this young fellow. The exposure is bang on. The perfect head angle relative to the light angle ensured the eye and face would be perfectly illuminated.

Grace, Really nice details and exposure. The low angle adds alot to this. I love the feathers when they are young, they have alot of interest.

Well done on all counts. Great comment by Dan as to using the light well even though the bird was not angled properly to the light; it looks as if you were fighting wind against sun conditions. I particularly like green frame above the bird's head.

Perfect HA and light is gorgeous. Love the split tonalities in the environment. The green balances the sand very well for me. :)

Grace, well done, I like the green above, really frames the bird well and shadow gives a nice balance.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I was off ideal sun angle mainly because the beach in front of the colony is not being groomed to make it better for the birds, and as I wanted a real low angle for this creation, this angle afforded the cleanest, most unobstructed view. Plus, I could then use the dunes as background for the green. I employed the technique that Artie used on one of my recent images, a linear burn, to deal with some bright areas that lacked some details. A useful technique! Thanks again.....
