Our feeders here in the Finger Lakes Region of Up State NY have had quite a few new birds. This is one from 2 days ago. I am not sure what it is. It appears to be some type of warbler. Possibly an American Redstart Female??
Any help with the ID would be appreciated; we sure are getting interesting birds this year we haven't seen in this area before.
I agree and would go further and say it's an immature female. Note the lack of yellow in the middle of the wing where the coverts end. An adult female would have a yellow bar there.
Thanks guys. We are really surprised by the number of species that have been around this year which have not been here before. Maybe we are more observant??
The very fresh feathers along with the fine buffish/light grey edgings all indicate a bird of the year. The young males are quite similar; I am not sure when they get those first few black flecks.
