This is my first sighting and photo of this species. Taken in the Kruger National Park, this female was chatting gaily on a rock about 7 meters from my car, and allowed me a few shots.

Your comments and critique most welcome!

Lovely calling pose Mork, well exposed, and good job on the eye. I like the smooth BG too. I would maybe tone the rock perch a bit, and take a bit off the bottom.

Good exposure and sharpness. I would also suggest trimming some off the bottom as a I find the rock a little distracting.

Nice photo Morkel, there is a bit of overexposure, the back of this chat is almost black, yours is bordering on grey, maybe try a little drop on brightness, exposure and see.

    thanks for the feedback guys!

@ Stu - I am uploading a new one with toned down rock and tighter crop.

@ Loukie - I checked all my RAW files taken of this bird, they all look like this with no signs of over-exposure in ACR. This was the way I saw its colour as well. It might have been a juvenile?

Perch is too bright and repost is not that good, may be another try on toning it down
BTW what a beautiful bird this is and calling pose makes it better

    Hey bro,
HA is off, but I can sense your excitement in seeing and capturing the new bird. Always a highlight of any day! :)
Toned down perch looks good in repost. I am unsure though about crop. There seems to be some details missing. Still congrats on this birdie. Love the singing pose! :)

Morkel looks like he was mocking you. I also prefer the first comp.
Agree with Akos on the detail. Light looks a bit harsh?

    thanks guys.

Akos - yeah I might have cropped too much on that one. that being said I prefer the original comp.
Dave - light was beginning to get harsh, about 10am...
