Diving off Lizard Island, FNQ, at a spot called the Cod Hole. One of the best dives I've ever done where we actually got to interact with (almost) car-sized Potato Cods (Epinephelus tukula). Four/five dives a day in shorts! What warm water compared to Sydney! I loved it, every single minute of it. :D (image taken by my wife)

Hi Mate, at least we know that this time you were diving with your best buddy! :p :D

Understand the love of the warm water; however we are diving the Galapagos  and that will be in a 7ml.
    Cheers, Jay

Oh yeah, two seasons in one dive there mate! I read all about that place. I sincerely hope you get to see what I long to see once, the massive school of hammerhead sharks that hang by the seamounts!

Hi mate, if only you had moved slightly forward - you would have been nicely framed between the corals. This is one activity I havent done yet. My daughter qualified as a diver at 15, and she has dived off the south coast near Durban. They claim she is a fish in water.

Looks like a lot of fun, I'd love to see a coral reef sometime.

Hey Akos, Very interesting shot. I never dove but that reef looks like it holds an incredible amount of photo ops.
    Thanks for posting it!!

Scuba diving is (was) great for over a decade! I was a fish in water myself. Could not drag me away! :) My next trip will be somewhere warm, in the tropics.

Most reefs, coral or not, have just enormous amounts of life. Reefs would have far greater densities of living creatures per square meter than the same are on land. Much more concentrated underwater. You could practically sit in front of one big boulder and still not have enough air time to take it all in. Two spots that come to mind on this outer reef liveaboard trip (we were about 40 miles off shore, literally at the edge of the abyss) were Pixie's Pinnacle and Steve's Bommie. Those places! Man, they are just oases underwater.

Akos, Have a friend of mine who is an ardent underwater photog and has travelled all over the world. When she told me all thats involved between equiptment, expense and the danger factor I was very surprised. Really hand it to underwater photogs...theres alot involved!!

Fortunately the only mishap - other than being inside a recompression chamber for the best part of six hours - was the time my equipment malfunctioned during a solo dive. However, that's when my redundant air supply came in handy and saved the day. :)

It is a great pastime, though very equipment intensive. Still, would prefer to rock climbing or flying anyday.
