    Default Galapagos Stitched Pano

At times the 800 is too much lens. I try to turn that negative into a positive by thinking stitched pano. This is a two frame stitched pano. Each orginal was created with the 800mm f/5.6L IS lens and the EOS-1D MIII. ISO 250. Evaluative metering +2/3 stop: 1/500 sec. at f/10.

I did a bit of BKGR cleanup and smoothing.

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

    Hi Artie,
Any closeups with a smaller focal length?

Took the liberty to experiment with black and white.

    Cheers,

I use File/Automate/Photomerge in CS-3. When it cranks the image out, you sometimes see little cracks.... When you flatten the image, the cracks disappear. The only time that I have ever seen any seams have been when I screwed up the original captures.....

No close-ups with a smaller lens. I like the B&W look but would reduce the contast. TYS. (Thank you sir.)

A little more room would be good. Great detail. This would be an imposing large print.

Yes. There are several easy ways, all described in Digital Basics. The easiest is to use the crop tool. Crop to the full size of the image and then pull the sides out with the little handles where you want to add canvas.... Then double click to crop and voila... It's magic.

Yes, I did get rid of a whitish blob just in front of the first spine. The first spine in the ORIG however looks a bit on the weird side. What do you think???

In any case, you are quite sharp-eyed.

    Hey Artie,
It was interesting reading all the comments as I have never considered the stitch pano while at 800.......probably because of the zoom of the Sigmonster....but still glad you planted the idea in our heads. You know I have no problem with the tight crop as for me the eye is in a very good position.....besides.....I know you can add the canvas easily too. Sabyasachi's B&W idea is also a nice and effective presentation but agree with you on the toned down contrast.

Thanks Peter. I did give it a go at replacing the first spine plus some more but it just was not working so I will just let it be.

If I ever have to complain about 'too much lens', my wife will probably hit me over the head with a skillet ;)

great job here Artie! can just imagine the level of detail you can achieve by doing this with wildlife/birds.
love the subtle colour tones in the lizard but Sabya's B&W quite appeals to me as a viable alternative.
