Tech. Note: This is a composite of three images (flower, butterfly, and enhanced background). The final image was desaturated and repainted with a pastel brush; shadows were added to create an illusion of mystery and depth in a dream state. A canvas oil finished was added to set the mood and was under exposed on purpose to give it a Victorian vintage feel.
This majestic beauty was painted with a Nikon D3, using a Nikkor 105mm f/2.8D IF-ED macro lens.

This is wonderful, Gus! It has an antique feel to it, reminds me of those very beautiful old taxonomic illustrations that were tinted with color in form and feel, but with all the modern conveniences! Its a great creation, and it does look like a dream that a butterfly might have.
