Hi Lady Mirenchu,
I like the composition and capture...this is one beautiful lady...a few points to consider...the base image is under exposed, and the color rendition is a little off, the image is flat. I also see noise in the background, and the out of focus green leaves on the top of the frame takes your eyes away from your main subject...I modified your composition and image just slightly to enhance her natural beauty...I started by cropping from both the left and right side of the frame and a little from the bottom; I eliminated the out of focus green leaves from the top, and gave you a solid black background to showcase your lady in all of her splendor. I adjusted the contrast and boosted the saturation just a little. I selective sharpened the petals and ran a low level pass of noise reduction in the background and on your flower...see if this presents best to you...
hey gus, i thought it was overexposed? looks like a fair amount of burning was done to the whites and they got mushy. might have been a better idea to try to multiply the highlights OR!! adjust the brightness of the entire image down a bit. i love what gus did, simplifying the background. definitely presents better.
Hi - agree with Gus's fine critique - although I would have said over exposed as well, all points covered by Gus and his repost is on the money for my tastes.
Good show :)
Mirenchu, I think Gus's repost and comments are instructive. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether the capture was over or underexposed. Can you tell us which one it is? I would have guessed underexposed from looking at it.
Thanks,
First, this is a charming photograph, (stamens and pistil are vey cute, almost coy looking...!) and I like Gus's crop. But the color enhancement of the repost is too fluorescent, if you want to be true to color, which I realize is not always what the photographer has in mind. Its a question of taste. But the original was more true to the color, and I like the delicacy of the originals colors, which are subdued. I would just attempt to sharpen the edge of the petals. (Dont know where I get off providing advice, here, lol! Is this Scheffelera or a lily of some kind?)
