    Why?

The tech stuff I'm sure John can answer... but I'm not sure its worth the effort placing those birds in so much stress .... why no shoes is more difficult to answer .. both times he went in with no shoes !!!! Amazing !!!

The stress part is my point. You say that visit the nest on most days??? I just love that bird photographers take rafts of rubbish if a bird even looks at us, but researchers (as I have stated before) get a free pass to disturb whatever birds they wish to disturb as often as they like.

Maybe a panel of bird photographers should be the ones who grant or deny research permits, or maybe we should get to apply for permits that entitle us to disturb whatever birds we want to as often as we like.

artie, i think i saw in another thread somewhere that they do it every twenty days. not every day. not that that makes it any better, but i'm not getting into that discussion, for i have no knowledge at all as to what they are doing of the benefit of it.

Artie when the truck showed up the birds knew the people and didn't like them ... no question they got agitated right away Photographers they did not mind and would fly right over us with not a care.

Not sure how often they go to the nest but often enough for the birds to know.

These guys are just plain insane. No gators? Or are they wearing a gator deterrent shield? :D
