    A Snowy Plover chick getting its juvenile plumage. Sands Beach has really nice warm evening light, starting about 7:00 PM.

    50D, 100-400 at 400
    1/800, f/5.6, ISO 400
    Moderate crop, Handheld.

    Lovely light as you said and I like how the BG, bird and sand are all complementary in color to each other. Sharpness looks good as does feather detail. Only wish the beak was clean but I'm sure he just forgot to wipe his face after dinner.:D Congrats

    Excellent feel and tones Delicate and beautiful Might only want the bird slightly more turned to have the beak all on the bg ... same thing happened to mine up top from this one :) !!! Sweet image !!!

    I agree about the tones, very pleasing image, wish for a bit of a head turn away but still a wonderful image

    Beautiful light and sweet looking bird, especially with the sand on its beak.

    Thanks all for the comments. I also wish for a better head and body angle, but this was the only decent pose I got.

    Its all about the light, and late afternoon light produces the goods too. Super low angle, excellent exposure, and love the overall detail in this. I would maybe lighten the eye a tad. Still, well captured Aidan.
