    Default Nose

    Nose-horned viper Vipera ammodytes

The most venomous snake in Europe.

    Canon 40D, Canon 100 macro, ISO 400, 1/100, f8, tripod
    PP: shadows, contrast, sharpness
I left bg a little visible on purpose that habitat is visible too and that is more clear that the photo is not from terarium:)

Good catch. I hope you were protected. I'd still cop some off the top for a more balanced composition.

No needs for protection if you know animals:) I think on such crop as you propose but then I saw a diagonal, actually two, one from snake to the upper left corner and the other with the crack and left it:)
However, I have more tight crop too with similar situation.

I agree with Fabs about the cropping but love the excellent detail and pose in this capture. Looks like you were quite close to this viper !!! Sure glad all went well. thanks for sharing.

Fine shot and like the contrast of colors from red to gray. Agree a crop would enhance,. Nice work!

100 macro??? What did you know about that snake that led you to believe that you would not be bitten? I love the colors and the sharpness on the eye. I am sure that there were lots of COMPs and crops here.

    What is the snake's name?
