    Got this Lanius cristatus at Candaba wetlands (Philippines) the other day when the setting sun was near the horizon. The background was OOF rice plants, with the paddies meeting the horizon just above the top of the frame. Comments/critiques appreciated.

    40D + 500 f4 IS + 1.4x TC, f/7.1, 1/160 sec, ISO 400, manual exposure, bean bag
    RAW, levels adjustment, selective contrast/NR/sharpening, 100% of full frame resized to 800x533

    I like the pose, details and BG. Maybe a slight crop off the left. The perch is not the most interesting but I would take this image anytime.

    Very nice. I'd probably shave a touch from the top and left.

    Agree with Jim's crop. I am fine with the perch. I would boost the contrast a bit. The original capture is pretty perfect. Plus, I like it.

    Yikes! That background is incredible!! Suggestions from others would add to the image, but personally, I really like it just how you've presented it here.

    That pastel background takes the image over the top! Light helps too ;)
