I was trying to get this rascal in-flight, but he was consistently too quick for me. So I settled on a stationary pose on the fence. Cropped 50%, and with very minor other adjustments. Comments welcomed . . .

held up really well to the crop, wendell. i see a few clone stamp marks lower left. might try using your brush at 0 hardness. well help. there's also a dust bunny right behind the bird.

i like the detail in the bird and the pose is really nice. congrats!!

    Very, very nice Wendell,
I like everything about it...good pose, good head angle, and sharp eye contact....the color rendition is dead on and the feather details are superb...proud of you Wendell...keep them coming...

Hi Harold, guess I don't know what you mean by "brush at 0 hardness." Would you please explain?

Good work, Wendell. Like the pose. Personally I would like to see a touch more contrast, but that's just me. What Harold means is setting the brush to 0% hardness; the hardness is how fuzzy the edges of the brush are.

    Harold,

Nice advise above, agree w/Al move back and down. Perch is too dominating and takes away from your beauty.

Just asking, is it a sunny day, is it a tad underexposed for ISO 500 - is histogram on left hand side?

Great feather detail and I love the perch, just not so much of it - good show.

    Christopher, thanks for the explanation.

Jeff, it was a mildly overcast day (but plenty of light, as I recall). The colors (red, yellow, green, aqua and blue) in the histogram show as fairly slender spikes, all in the middle, with no clipping on either end.

Thanks wendell, it was mildly overcast my comment are not valid. I was referring to the sunny 16 reference points. I was thinking it could be a tad brighter, but overall it looks great.

Again, well done and nice detail.
