Default Santa María de San Salvador Monastery

The monastery is in the town of Cañas, 40 kms. from Logroño. The origin of the monastery is due to the donation given by Count López Díaz de Haro and his wife.In the monastery the Gothic church, with one nave, cross, and three apses, is particularly interesting. The chapter house was the place where the Chapter Nuns meet, and which later became a cemetery. The main entrance has a triple archivolt. The monastery was inhabited by a community of enclosed nuns from 1170.

    Hi Lady Mirenchu,
I like the perspective...I find the concentric circle patterns on the floor very interesting...what are they, what do they mean or symbolize...and how where they made...It looks to me that you could not walk bare foot on this type of floor...:D:cool:
