Beautiful surroundings and placement in the frame. Wish he was turned towards you, but I'm sure you wish the same. Light was pretty nice too.

I agree with Fabs...if only that head was at least turned a bit more in your direction...still, such a pleasing image because the light is so nice. I might consider cloning out the larger OOF dandelion/flower in the middle right side of the frame. It's not horrible but it is a little distracting.

Hi Paul, Love the dew drops on the grasses. Not a big fan of the bird facing away from the camera. I often feel like the bird is being chased away with this kind of shot. You could crop the light area off the top to simplify things as well. Anyway, sweet lighting and nice and sharp too.

    Good Shooting!

Welcome Paul and ditto Fabs and Jules. And BLZ, what a present surprise buddy. Have you posted any of your great images here yet???

Tip for Paul. Sometimes making a sound with your lips (or quacking like a duck) can get a bird to turn its head back towards you. Parallel to the imaging sensor would have been perfect here.

    Paul,

I think this a very nice environmental portait. Most wonderful light. Killdeer seem to always be in motion.
How did you catch him being still?

    Thanks for sharing...
