There was some cloud cover, and I was on the backlit side late afternoon. The bill was somewhat illuminated, and lighting seemed a bit unusual.

Overall colours and lighting seem nice to me, maybe a touch more lightening of the eye.

Great job on exposure, love the coloration of the feathers and head angle is good. I agree with Art about the eye.

Love the detail and feather colour that you have captured. I may have added a bit of canvas above the bird and reduced the space below as he is looking up and the post does not add much to the comp?
    I like the lighting.

Beautiful pose, the head turn and pose works well, a little more space on the top and left would help.

I'm liking the comp as is...the thickness and length of the perch balances the image out nicely IMO. I definitely agree about lightening the eye. I like the backlit throat pouch with the veins showing through - very neat! There is a bit of posterization (due to image compression) showing on the BG...especially noticeable near the tail and below the wing.

Wonderfull pose, and light, great sharpness, detail, colors, and atitude. Perch is not ideal IMO but the image still works.
    Congratulations.

I really appreciate the comments, and it appears I didn't make any errors that I often somehow overlook. Daniel, indeed any posterization must be due to jpeg conversion. I'll have to look into it.
The eye, and the possibility of lightening it, did occur to me as well. Although pretty easily done, I wasn't sure that it would look right, so I didn't attempt doing so, However, I'll revisit the idea, and see how it looks.
    Thank you!~Bill
