    Default Juvenile Red-necked Grebe

A photo from today, as I just purchased a 400mm F/5.6 and had to try it out. A sharp little lens, and nice and light for birds in flight when I want to travel light. C&C welcomed.

Lovely and sharp, Mike. Great focus on the eye and the open bill is great. Maybe a little tight in frame but feather and water textures are lovely. Have fun with the new toy.

Looks like you have a sharp copy of the 400 f 5.6 and you are already good at using it. I like the feather detail a lot in this image. Good job of not blowing the white feathers with such a dark bird.

Agree he is a little tight in the frame but overall a very nice image., love the open beak and eye. Congrats on your new toy and enjoy.

Congrats on your new toy, and I can see you are already producing the goods. Sharp, lovely light, and I like the open beak.

Great image, lovely pose, low angle, detail, colors, species, and sharpness, excellent DOF and open bill is a plus.
    Congratulations!

Enjoy your new lens, it's a little wonder...
Great sharpnes, I love the soft light,
very good angle towards you and a lovely HA with the open beak as a bonus.
I would prefer the frame a bit more open.

Fantastic image Mike I really like it. It is not the lens but the person behind and I mean it!!!
The lens is good too. I used it for three years and I still regret that I sold it.

Beautiful picture, lovely texture, nice head turn, but a little too tight, especially behind the bird, but thats a minor issue...
