    Late afternoon sun, Damariscotta Lake, Maine - green swirls from hemlock reflections. Adult common loon parent with small bass fry for waiting juvenile.

    1DM3, 500 mm x1.4, ISO 800, f/10, 1/400, -1.0 EV.

    I'd only wish for a better HA and would also crop a bit more from above (only a little).

    Love this species.
    Great detail and sharpness although body ans head angle could've been a tad better IMO.
    Prey in hte bill is a nice plus!

    I agree a better HA is what is missing here. I also agree that the water looks great!! I also like the loon's relatively low body position in the water. There is abit of blue from the water casting onto the body...a neat and easy little trick is to select the body only and desaturate the blue and cyan channels - gone is that blue!
