Took this in Nakuru after a full on thunderstorm. Was taken at the end of day, and regrettably, light was dire and flat. The dark line on the snout are flies. Had to repair her tail and added some canvas for a bit more space. D300 & 500 AF-S II. 1/200 f4, ISO 1000. FF and a bit :) Sharpening on Lioness and branch only. No nr.

Another one of those interesting backgrounds in your photos. The geometrical effect with the horizontal lion is very eye catching. So well composed.

One of my favorite images from you, Dave ! Poster like BG, that royal perch . Glad to see it in big size here. Light after the rains is simply magical.....and you made full use of it.

Edit: I absolutely didn't realize that you had changed your tagline... Dave. I am very sorry to hear about your loss. 53 is too young to go. Your family is in our prayers.

Very nice habitat, made better with the oisture. Subject well placed and I like the concentration in her stare.
A llittle head turn your way would have been nice. Thanks for sharing this one, David :)

I like the 3-D depth of this one. Wish the yellow bark on the vertical tree was more similar in color to the greys and greens of the others but I really like the color, patterns, and details of the horizonal trunk.

My condolences for the loss of your brother.

Unique comp, exp, and a subject nicely separated from an intersesting BG that tells me about habitat. Nicely seen and executed, David.

So very sorry for your loss.

I kind of think the BG noise almost looks like heat haze this instance. Agreed that a slightly better head angle would be ideal. However, I really like the way this image is composed. It looks so 3D! Nice work David! :)

Lovely image. You have captured a nice moment with the kid in the branch. I agree with Steve that it would have been great if the colouration of the yellow bark of the tree would have been different. However, you had no control over it. I agree that a slight head turn would have been good, however, I like this image as is.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi
