    Default Eastern Spiny Gurnard

I photographed this Eastern Spiny Gurnard on my hand during a night dive in Nelson Bay, Port Stephens in February 2002. The site is called Fly Point and one of the best shore dives in NSW, Australia. These fish are remote relatives of the venomous scorpion cods, stonefish etc.

Nikonos III, 35mm lens, 1:3 extension tube, single overhead flash, Fujichrome Sensia II 100 ISO.

Removed some backscatter in CS4. I also just noticed the hair on the dorsal fin. Ooops. :(

That is one tiny complicated creature, incredible to hold so much detail and crevices in such little body.
Interesting, thanks for sharing it, Akos!

    Hi Akos,
The brightness of the back fingertip is a bit distracting but I really like the colors of this guy and the detailed patterns of the pectoral fin.
