Nothing special, just could not resist. I just would love to go to Africa, just once please!

Cropped for a 11x17, on tripod, dodging the crowds. Canon EOS-1D Mark II N,Shooting Date/Time 1/29/2008, Tv(Shutter Speed) 1/1000Sec. Av(Aperture Value) F8.0, Evaluative metering, Exposure Compensation 0, ISO 200, Lens EF300mm f/2.8L IS USM, Focal Length 300.0 mm, just for some change and keep the bg clean. What do you think?

Good use of focal length in a zoo setting to elimante the signs of captivity. The bright ground in front of the elephant is a bit distracting. Getting eye shine in elephants is always difficult. I think cropping a bit of the right side of the frame would be evern stronger...

I agree with Robert on the crop suggestion.

When I photograph in zoos I will go even longer and zoom in on details removing all signs of captivity but still saying the animal is captive in the post. Really nice detail in the elephant. Exposure right on and sharp as a tack. Well done.

I like the weathered look of the elephant, and I agree with the above crop. Amen for just one trip to Africa...Hey we'll make it!
    Best,

Wow! He has really grown, I saw him when he was ten-days old.
