    Default Calling Virginia Rail.

Sorry, gotta post another one of this species as I got too many good opporunities last weekend:). The overcast light was a blessing (again) as I normally wouldn't be photographing with harsh light @ 10:30 a.m. I like the calling pose, and I especially like the strand of saliva (?) at tip of the open bill.

    Canon 40D + 100-400L @ 350mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/6.3, ISO 640, +1 EC, natural light, handheld, full-frame, audio used.

I enjoyed a lot your previous post of this guy Daniel but this one is even better IMO or, at least, as good as the other.
Compsoition is just perfect, terrific low angle and I see why you are so happy with the overcast light ;-)

PS: You do not need to apologize for posting images like this one :-D

Hi Dan, your third beauty in the your series. Superb IQ, stunning light and exposure, and well timed to get the open beak. I like the DOF, and overall, nice and sharp. Great capture, and congrats.

No this one I love! Great pose, BG, detail, colors, low low angle, species, open bill, all looks great to me! Maybe a tad more room at the bottom would help. Congratulaitons!

You gotta love drizzle. I also like this one better. Pose and open bill are superb. The two tallest and prominent grass stems behind the back leg bug me a bit. Losing them would be an option...

Great saturation and the DOF draws you right in. Nice work.

Great shot Daniel! The low angle makes this one for me. Nice open beak, BG, detail in the bird, and soft light. Would also remove some of the grasses intersecting with the birds feet. Congrats!
