Nice golden light and EXP on front mallard and I like the water drops. The OOF back mallard is distracting, although it looks far enough away that it might have been difficult to get sufficient DOF - especially given that this was a handheld shot.

Wellcom on board Carl, it is great to have yours images here :-)

The sidelight is a bit harsh to my taste or perhaps it is a feeling that I have due to the light angle. Direct sunlight would produce a much better result but I assume that you were shooting from the available place and there was no possibilities of shooting with the sun at your back.

A lower angle would be great but would cause the overlapping of the out of focus hen.
Love the eye contact of the main subject and the water drops falling from the bill :-)

Sharpness, pose and eye contact look good. I think a lower angle would not have helped here. I'm not sure about the OOF duck since there is no interaction between the two.

The OOF duck is not ideal here IMO.
Nice moment with the water drops and nice light and detail. Congratulaitons!
