Outstanding as well as unusual skimmer image! I'd go ahead and level the wake(slight clockwise), and there is a very slight halo around the bird, though this could be just due to jpeg conversion. Otherwise excellent image. regards~Bill

Very striking image James, the sillouette and background really add to the impact. As Bill mentioned, I think that leveling the wake would improve the image. I also feel that having a little more space on the left and less on the right would remove the interaction between the left wingtip and the frame.

Thanks for sharing this one, it's wonderful to get a unique glimpse at this birds behavior.

Cool silhouette image, I like the colors, pose and reflection. If it were mine I would crop a bit off the top and if you draw a line with the ruler tool from wing tip to the wing tip of the reflection it shows that it needs a bit CCW rotation.

Very nice. I especially like the sunlight shining through the wake. I'd just cut back a bit on the sharpening.

Outstanding image. One of the best I've seen of this species. Great silhouette. I like the water behind the bird. Great red color.

Beautiful image and love the silhouette, head angle and water. I am wondering if the bird was angled and not out of level, anyway it is outstanding and one I would love to take.

I agree about CCW rotation. I like the colors, silouette and the fantastic splash of the water. Superb transparencies and textures. A bit of more room at the bottom would be very nice to improve the composition IMO

Outstanding image. Could be enhanced as suggested, but definitely having masses of appeal and impact. TFS

Killer as noted above. I especially love the water and the cocked head at the moment of strike.

Was this on the ocean or in a rain pool?

Either way, this is an outstanding image.

Amazing colours, and I like the light through the wake. Well captured.

Wow. What a shot. May not need the rotation -- it appears to me that he was coming slightly toward you hence the angle.

Striking image. I think the rotation should be CW to level the wake, if you decide to. It's the wake tipping up to the right that throws the horizon off to my eye, not the skimmer.

Absolutely gorgeous. The water splash the pose and relfection all make this a truly amazing shot. The only thing I would try is to lighten up the shot a bit more just to see what it looks like. The bird already pops of the screen but I thought maybe a lighter BG would make it pop just a bit more. Other than that just perfect
