Default Water off a duck's back

This is a "fun" image. The young/female American Wigeon was having a marvelous time bathing in the Sackville Waterfowl Park today.

I clipped the tail but I think it works because of the blob of water above the bird and the head is the focus of the image.

    Do you like the duckweed?

    Cropped and standard processing.

    John:

    Great fun, exuberant capture!

Thinking about Peter's comments, I tweaked it a bit, and added a wrinkle or two.

Pulled down the midtones just a bit, the slight darkening gave a little more color to the plumage and made the water pop off the darker blue water.
Sharpened the splash and eye selectively. I think overall sharpening as mentioned by Peter would work well, but I wanted to really draw attention to the splash.

    Lots fun here.

    Thanks for sharing!

Neat capture, it looks as if the splash came out of the duck's back. :) I like Randy's changes and might remove the green band at the top.

Thanks for all the comments and the repost by Randy. I think the new version is a big improvement (I wish I'd thought of doing that!). I find this is one of the most difficult things about this form of art that we are all so interested in and passionate about- seeing the detail in your own images and thinking about them out of the "straight-jacket" of ownership, as if they were produced by someone else.
