    Default Black Skimmer

Last night's heavy rains left many large puddles at Nickerson which provide lots of great photo opps. for terns bathing and skimmers doing what they do best. I liked the inclusion of the little bit of grass in the water as I felt it gave the image a little balance. Interested in others views.

The black and whites are nicely exposed. The grassy are is different but I think it is distracting- it appears as if the skimmer is dragging it along.

    Hi Joe

I like the pose and angle of the bird and exposure and of both black and whitesgood, although there seems to be a bit of a sharpening halo along the leading wing edge . I find the grass more of a distracting than addding balance to the photo and would have preferred it without.

    Cheers

I would have preferred the grasses not to be directly below and touching the skimmer. Do you have a sharp frame taken just before when the grass would have been located at about a bird's lenght in front of it? I do enjoy seeing some splashes of greenery, so I do see your point of liking it - it's just the placement that is distracting. I would look at toning down the whites a little bit. What I like best is seeing the transition from water to sand...it makes it look as if you were wading in the surf looking towards the beach!

I enjoyed this image. I like the pose and details of the bird. I agree with Axel on the grass. The touch of green is nice but the placement is distracting. I might back off the sharpening a little. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that the grass are not ideally placed but I do like the touch of green, great pose and light and nice BG.
    Congratulations!
