Nice moment captured with all the heads and good angles and one gaping mouth. The grouping and perch stand out wonderfully from the attractive bokeh. The abrupt crop of the Spanish moss along the bottom is the only thing that I wish was different.

A great story telling image with wonderful detail , exposure , comp. and BG. I guess you could say this image has it all.

Very cool family portrait. I like the setting, BG and interaction, I particularly like that the one chick rest its head on top of its sibling. The birds look quite oversharpened on my monitor. Could you post the techs?

    Matthew:

Great family interaction, with nice HAs all the way around. I do agree with Axel about the sharpening, I am seeing some jaggies in both the plumage and the moss.

    Lovely colors in the BG.

    Cheers

Great moment; sweet image. I love the perch and the BG. I agree that it looks oversharpened.

Hey guys - you were right on the sharpening. I reprocessed and reduced the sharpening. How does it look now? I was editing on a laptop and didn't notice the sharpening error at first. Thanks for the correction.

Absolutely wonderful! The BG sets the family off nicely!
Not sure what your DOF was, but it works!
Side thought... most images I see on forums these days are oversharpened IMHO.

Love the Image, Congrats on the unique warbler image, way to break the mold!!! Reminds me of a family portrait where the mother is trying to make the kids behave for the picture.

Don't see many family portraits here and this one is fantastic! Wish the two chicks on the left didn't blend together so much, but the expressions on their faces and HA more than make up for it. This one image would've made the trip up to Maine worth it.

Wow Matthew--this is awesome!! How long were these guys out of the nest--do you know? What were you shooting data? You never see warbler family shots like this! I would expect to see this one published!

Hey Matthew, way cool. Perfect EXP, and lots of good HAs. Here's the funny part: the only baby warbler that I have ever seen or photographed was a BTGR. In Maine. Go figure.

Great comments above. I didn't see the original post but your repost looks pretty good in my opinion. I could look at this image for a long time. Great timing to get the good head angles. Superb! Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Matthew,

Excellent family scene! The lichens are dropdead gorgeous! Nice BG and HA. When it comes to these kind of photo's you're right up there with the best of them IMHO. Stunning stuff

Hi Artie - yes that is ironic.
The Wood Ducks at Chagrin were great this last year (2008) just like when you came (2006). In 2007 the colors were only so-so. I can't wait for fall this year.

Thanks Paul! I don't know how long the babies were out of the nest but I'm guessing not long (a day or two max). They were still quite small and not good at flying at all.
