    Default Black-headed Gull

    Hi

These are our most common local gull which have just returned from their summer breeding grounds. Thought I would have a short session with them mid-week while they were still in summer plumage as they change very quickly and lose their dark head.

Taken in some rare UK late in the day sunlight. Thought prehaps this need a bit more space at the top or prehaps a vertical crop.

Taken with 1Dmk3 and 500mm lens at at F6.3 -0.67 EV at ISO 400 and 1/2500s.

    Cheers

    Rich

I like the banking pose, sharpness and BG. If it were mine I would either give it a tad more room at the top or go for a vertical crop.

I am with Axel here, nice pose, light, colors, detail, exposure, BG and sharpness but comp it too tight and Axel's suggestion might help.
    Congratulations!

I really like the back view. Especially with the detail. Nice over all composition. Another vote for more room at the top to give the wing tip a little more room. Thanks for sharing.

Super banking angle Rich, and you show the dorsal view nicely. I like the colours, detail, and he pops from the BG very well.

A common but beautifull gull. Love the banking pose and nice light against that fantastic Bg Rich
