    Default Mulga Parrot

I was out photographing with Rob Dummond one time when he made the observation that with a low, quiet approach it is possible to get quite close to parrots feeding on the ground. So I employed the tactic on a small feeding flock of Mulga Parrots near Cunnamulla, Queensland, and managed to get this image of a male.

Canon 40D, EF500 f/4 + 1.4tc , tripod and mongoose head set low, ISO 400, 1/400, f/7.1. Slight crop and an OOF object disguiseed foreground belwo his tail.

Lovely colours on the parrot Smon, and great to get down and dirty to achieve this angle. I would maybe take a bit off the bottom to get rid of some OOF FG, and maybe a tad off the top too. Darkening the BG would make him pop a bit more too. Still, well captured.

One of the best shots I've seen of this bird Simon. Beautiful colour & truly reflective of it.

Way wicked bird. I am OK with the o-o-f foreground vegetation but the rock in the BKGR, the dark thing just to the right of the rock, and the scraggly grasses on the right are all distracting. I do like the raised foot on the little dirt pile.

I agree with Artie here, I was going to comment also on the OOF parrot, the rest I like it a lot, low angel, pose, detail, IMO the bird's eye could be brightened a tad more.
    Congratulations!
