Hi Mark, The placement would work with Akos suggestion or the way it currently is...I like the varying tonality of colors and yes, it does look a bit like stained glass. Your handling made a somewhat common scene into something far more interesting.
I also think you could take a bit off the top and go with more of a pano crop. That would put the waves/water in at the 1/3 mark and more along the ROT's positioning.
Thanks for the comments and sorry for the delay, but there seem to have been a glitch with the site! Sure you are all aware. :(
The image is not pure on the screen, unfortunately Julie. There is a split of 1/3rds that I wanted to keep. I cropped the horizon line off the top, as the sky area was minimal. The surfer is the bottom 1/3, the dark blue of the ocean is the upper 1/3rd and the area in between is the middle 1/3rd. That is the area that is not well defined above, due to image shift in posting. It is a slight toning of the light blue above the whitecaps that I wanted to preserve but didn't hold in the posting. My screen and the print show the original as I desired it. Unfortunately, the separation of the ocean tones, did not transfer to the site as desired. :( :o But I appreciate all the comments.
mark, you are saying what i was thinking. it just didnt handle the jpeg compression well? i'd love to see the original. i like the surfer where it is and the crop.
I hope to have it up on my website later this year. Working on it with a friend, but with all of life's issues it might be a few months. Not that there are a lot of items, but there is a lot of work! ;)
I am trying to enhance my images so they do post better on the web site. Hopefully I can get this one to. Otherwise I may have to do some painting to get the tones I want! ;)
